About the NGO Tany Ifandovana

The NGO TANY IFANDOVANA was created in 2010 as an association, then taking the form of an NGO in 2019. We work in the development of mitigation and adaptation projects in various sectors (Environment, Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing,) covering the entire value chain of the different ecosystems of Madagascar.

Who are we?

“Tany Ifandovana” is recognized as a development and public utility NGO (Non-Governmental Organization). Its main objective is to improve the capacity of local communities to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change. These areas show us the way forward and constitute the foundation on which our actions are based. Implementing projects in grassroots communities will not only bridge the significant gaps in wealth and power between rural and urban areas and also reduce the impacts of climate change.

Tany Ifandovana thus provides support to communities through five strategic objectives:

  • Strengthen actions to adapt to climate change;
  • Reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions and increase our absorption capacity;
  • Act to conserve biodiversity threatened by climate change;
  • Contribute to training and awareness on climate change;
  • Reduce the vulnerability of coastal and marine areas.

Our vision

Tany Ifandovana's vision is to become the first NGO in Madagascar that promotes nature-based approaches to strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems and local communities.

Notre mission

The main mission of the NGO Tany Ifandovana is to provide the different entities of society (States, local authorities, development organizations) with the skills of its members to meet the challenges of climate change through the implementation of nature-based solutions.

Our mission revolves around:

  • Reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and increasing absorption capacity by developing reduction measures based on renewable energies, reforestation actions, biogas production and waste recovery.
  • Strengthening actions to adapt to climate change by developing initiatives for more resilient agriculture, adopting sustainable ecosystem management approaches, using standards in green infrastructure, reducing the vulnerability of coastal, marine and coastal areas.
